When I heard the news that Adam Crozier has got himself a pay rise I immediately phoned up a mate of mine who is a postie. Above was his first reaction and who can blame him.
While rank and file posties are expected to be 'flexible' and ' live in the 21st century globalised economy' , bosses like Crozier and his ilk award themselves 'Victorian style' wage increases to run the business in a 'Victorian style' way!!
One way of ensuring that even the most moderate of postal workers votes in support of industrial action is this kind of behaviour. It will certainly guarantee the rejection of any future pay offers. Tax payers who face local post office closures will also draw the obvious conclusions.
Amazingly our Labour Party leaders cant see or understand this development until they count up the votes at the next general election. The memory of union members is far longer than the list of principles our Labour Party leaders are meant to have.
