French Oil Workers show how its done.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/6512753.stm

I always have a sly grin when our comrades across the channel decide to put workers struggle in the news. The build up of stress and tension in UK workplaces around pay , long hours and heavy/bullying management will one day in the close future evoke similar responses.

I smile and wait.

Tony Blair ; Increasely out of touch with what is happening in the workplace

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/6509535.stm

This really doesnt need saying. All likeminded trade unionists and socialists have known this for years. This sucking up to big business will not win Labour the next general election and there is nothing coming from the Brown camp to suggest any change.

Workers are more than ever, concerned with long term job security. They want fixed employment in one workplace. To actually believe that being 'flexible' increases long term job security is living in a utopia. Workers have always thought of themselves collectively and will change things in their interests collectively. For Blair to view this in an individual way is delusional.

But then again this is what we expect from Blair. He has carried on from where Thatcher left of. He has defended an agenda which empowers the employer and actually believes that successful capitalism gives workers long term job security.

My arse!!

Try telling that to workers in the manufacturing industry, 1 million jobs decimated in the last 10 years.

What message does it give to youth!! No wonder there are anti social behavioural problems.

Blairs vision will lead and is leading to a society where the rich grow richer. Workers will increasingly be told that there is no money in the kity and given excuses about 'globalisation' and 'opening markets in the east' while making fat profits. This will not wash and workers will act accordingly.

Blair sees the opening of academies as part of the indoctrination to make our young believe this 'you are all individuals', 'you have to be flexible' shit.

They have to be opposed.

Political representation will become an issue once again for workers as they face this employer onslaught.

Des Heemskirk wins tribunal

'Tribunal decision Des Heemskerk (former editor of the Gazette) has won his Employment Tribunal case against Amicus and a Remedies Hearing is underway.Amicus Unity Gazette policy is:"to congratulate Amicus the union on their full support of TUC policy/protocol on reinstatement or re-engagement decisions by Employment Tribunals to be mandatory and to urge the Amicus NEC to defend this policy."

From Amicus Unity Gazette site.
Bit of old news really.Lot of business going on in AUG. There are stories of Derek Simpsons followers having the AUG in their grip.
I spoke to one or two leading AUG supporters from the southwest who thought Heemskirk didnt have a chance. Well its happened!!
Are Amicus going to reinstate?
Des worked tirelessly for Simpson during his campaign against arch Blairite Ken Jackson, who used,as expected every underhand devious tactic to beat him.
I hope Des' two colleagues who were also dismissed get reinstated.
